"I don't want to set the world on fire" |
The newest instalment in the Fallout series will be set in Boston, Massachusetts, and will begin before the bombs fell. We didn't see much of the nuclear holocaust from the trailer, but we can expect it to be something quite spectacular. Think the Megaton destruction in Fallout 3, only bigger! The story will see a complete overhaul of the customisation system that gamers are familiar with from the Fallout series and feature the ability to be able to enhance and sculpt specific facial parts of your character. Whether you are male or female, it seems Bethesda Game Studios have every aspect covered in regards to making the game as personal as it can be.
Much like previous Fallout games, we can expect a massive map to explore. "Create what you want, go where you want and do what you want", was the cry from the Bethesda team which had the E3 crowd in raptures. The graphical presentation of Fallout 4 looked very similar to its predecessors on last gen, but that shouldn't deter the masses flocking to get a copy come November 10. As die-hard fans of the series will testify, the franchise hasn't been just about graphics. It's about freedom and exploration, all of which the Fallout series has executed to perfection in the past. There are not many games out there that provide such value for money with the potential to clock hundreds of in-game hours.
Other than new game footage, Bethesda talked extensively about the new Pip-Boy, which includes a new armour system and the ability to play arcade style games. Fallout 4 will be available in a Pip-Boy Edition, that will include a wearable Pip-Boy which you can connect your smartphone! If you download the Pip-boy app, you can use both the Pip-Boy and the app together to manage your game and access other cool features. Whether or not we will see a vast amount of people walk the streets wearing a real-life Pip-Boy remains to be seen, but it's certainly the kind of world we at Unlocked Gaming want to live in!
